“Spirit” calls to me.

A never-ending desire to discover color, form, texture, design . . .
to seek the essence of soul itself in the things of earth…
soil, trees, rocks, sky, and us...

Such humble tools . . . paint, fabric, pencils, paper
and yet unlimited potential exists.

So many wonderful things to make!
I am remembering how to see…
myself.

Biography

Melissa Reed was born in Hollywood, Florida. As a child, the spirit of the land and sea and the power of tropical color and form was the initial inspiration that awakened a life-long desire to discover, as an artist, the “essence of things."

When her family moved to Raleigh, North Carolina Melissa continued the search for her means of artistic expression. Though she briefly studied at Parsons School of Design in New York City, Melissa always maintained a strong belief that her path as an artist must be about self discovery. Through never-ending experimentation with paint, fabric, and any tool that helps bring an idea to life, she continues her journey.

After living nine years in Hawaii, she moved back to North Carolina, and then on to Jersey City, NJ. She has participated in numerous juried group and solo shows in New York City, Hawaii, and North Carolina. Her works are in private collections across the globe.
